An armed man has barricaded himself inside a restaurant in the western German city of Saarbruecken. A police elite counter-terrorism unit has been scrambled to storm the building, Bild reports.
Bild is reporting that the armed man ordered the restaurant staff out of the building and took no hostages.
There is a heavily armed counter-terrorism unit in the vicinity, while police negotiators and psychologists are trying to establish communications with the man.
There are reports that the German police counter-terrorism unit (SEK) is getting ready to storm the building.
Bild is showing live footage from the site, in which a street has been cordoned off and a police vehicle can also be seen.
Police have cordoned off two streets in downtown Saarbruecken in order to carry out their operation, according to a local radio station.
There are unconfirmed reports that the man appears to be suffering from “psychological problems.” Neither his identity nor his motives are known so far.
